 Who are we looking for?
Victim Support needs men and women to join the local schemes as volunteer management committee members, holding responsibility for the efficient operation of the scheme, with the day-to-day work managed by a voluntary or paid co-ordinator. You may already have voluntary management committee experience or relevant skills and experience gained elsewhere. Either would be relevant to Victim Support.

 What we expect from you
As a mangement committee member, representing the local community in which you live, you are asked to give time, energy and interest to the various aspects of local scheme management. Management committee work includes co-ordinator support and supervision, recruitment and training of volunteers and staff. It also includes management of finances, fundraising, publicity and public relations with other organisations, including police, social work and local community groups. Your involvement will normally extend to a few hours each week, attending meetings and fulfilling the role of the management committee in ensuring efficient operation of the service.

 Training and Development
Although Victim Support is staffed mainly by volunteers, we aim for the highest professional standards and operate within a code of practice which helps us acheive these. We attach a great importance to training and ensure that all our volunteers are properly equipped for the work they undertake.

 The Rewards
The essence of Victim Support is giving personal help to people in need and, for most people, this is the principal reward. As a volunteer management committee member, you can expect enjoyment and satisfaction from the social contact, involvement in the community and in being part of a team, which works hard to fulfil its aims for Victim Support. There is real satisfaction to be had in being a volunteer management committe member with Victim Support.
